Auto Repair Manual - How to read codes (No Special Tools Needed)
1 Drive vehicle until it reaches operating temperature.
2 Stop the vehicle, place it in park or neutral and turn ignition OFF.
3 Connect a switch, (Click here for details) , as shown on the diagram.
4 Turn ignition ON, the Check Engine Light (CEL) (Check Engine Light) will illuminate.
5 Immediately CLOSE the switch. The light will extinguish and then illuminate for one short flash.
6 Immediately OPEN the switch.
7 Read codes as described in the Code Format Description below.
Note:To retrieve the next code, close the switch and wait for the Check Engine Light (CEL) to flash once. Immediately open the switch and it will display the next 5-digit fault code.
8 Press the continue button to enter the code numbers and get the code description(s).

Code Format Description
Five series of flashes are used to indicate the five digit codes.
The first digit is indicated by the first series of flashes, likewise for the second digit, until all five digits have been flashed out.
A one to two second flash makes up each series with flashes being separated by short pauses. One second flashes make up the numbers, with zero being indicated by a two second flash.
Each series of flashes is separated by a 2.5-second gap.
A one 1-second flash, 2-second flash, a short pause, one 1-second flash, a short pause, three 1-second flashes, a short pause and two 1-second flashes indicates the code number "10132". Codes will be repeated after 2.5 second gap.
