Auto Repair Manual - How to read codes (No Special Tools Needed)

1 Drive the vehicle until transmission reaches operating temperature.

2 With ignition ON and engine OFF place gear selector into D position.

3 Turn the O/D switch to OFF.

4 Cycle the ignition switch OFF-ON.

5 Move the gear selector into position 2.

6 Turn the O/D switch to ON.

7 Move the gear selector into position 1.

8 Turn the O/D switch to OFF.

9 Depress the throttle pedal and release.

10 The Power Light on either the instrument cluster or the Power switch will begin flashing.

11 Read codes as described in the Code Format Description below.

12 Press the continue button to enter the code numbers and get the code description.

Code Format Diagram

Code Format Description

• The Code begins with a long start pulse.(St)

• 10 flashes follow, each flash represents a different fault code.

• A Short flash indicates no fault.

• A longer flash indicates a fault, where the code number is the position of the flash.

• Code Format Diagram shows fault codes2 and 6.
