Auto Repair Manual - How to read codes (No Special Tools Needed)

1 Drive the vehicle until transmission reaches operating temperature.

2 Stop the vehicle, place in park, or neutral and turn ignition OFF.

3 Connect your Voltmeter or LED tester onto the terminals shown in the diagram.

4 Turn ignition ON.

5 Press the continue button to move to the 'Start Test' screen

Code Format Diagram

Code Format Description

The fault code will be in one of the following Code Formats below.

• Each code is made up of two series of flashes.

• The long flashes indicate the 'tens' digits.

• The short flashes indicate the 'ones' digits.

• A long pause separates each code sequence.

• Code Format Diagram shows code No. 12.

• Short regular repeating pulses equal No Codes present.

Or...

• Each code is made up of three series of flashes.

• The first series indicates the 'Hundreds' the second indicated the 'Tens' and third the 'Ones'

• A long pause seperates each fault code.

• A shorter pause seperates each series of flashes.

• A zero digit is indicated by a long flash. The bottom code in the Code Format Diagram equals 702
