Auto Repair Manual - How to read codes (No Special Tools Needed)
NOTE:For this system to work the vehicle must have a Check Engine Light (CEL).
1 If possible run the engine to bring the oxygen sensor up to operating temperature.
2 Turn the ignition ON. If the Check Engine Light (CEL) does not go out within 3 seconds there is a fault code present.
3 Link the pins using your own wire link, (Click here for details) , as shown in the diagram for 4-7 seconds.
4 IMPORTANTOne code will be played continuously, to display another code you will need to re-link terminals as explained above.
5 Read codes as described in the Code Format Description below.
6 Press the continue button to enter the code numbers and get the code description(s).

Code Format Description
A long flash indicates the start of the code sequence.
The code is made up of four groups of flashes each representing a digit.
A long pause separates each code sequence.
Shorter pauses separate each group of flashes
Code Format Diagram shows code No. 1231.
To move to the next screen click on the Continue button
