• This is a Mazda system.
• The single pin connector is always green, do NOT use the white connector as it is the RPM pick-up from the coil.

Auto Repair Manual - How to read codes (No Special Tools Needed)

IMPORTANT:If after you turn the ignition ON no codes are output, then are either NO fault codes OR the vehicle has not been put into diagnostics mode correctly. To test the connection generate a fault code by disconnecting the airflow meter or throttle position sensor, crank or run the engine and re-run the test.

1 Warm the engine and oxygen sensor (if fitted) to operating temperature then switch the engine off.

2 Connect an LED tester or Voltmeter to terminals 'A' & 'B'. (Click here for details) 

3 Ground the green single connector as shown in the diagram.

4 Turn ignition ON.

5 Read codes as described in the Code Format Description below.

6 Press the continue button to enter the code numbers and get the code description(s).

Code Format Description

• Each code is made up of two series of flashes.

• The long flashes indicate the 'tens' digits.

• The short flashes indicate the 'ones' digits.

• A long pause separates each code sequence.

• Code Format Diagram shows code No. 12.
