Auto Repair Manual - How to read codes (No Special Tools Needed)
1 Ensure the engine and oxygen sensor is up to operating temperature.
2 Turn the ignition OFF.
3 Link the terminals as shown using your own wire link.
4 Connect an LED tester or Voltmeter, (Click here for details) to points labelled A and B on the diagram
5 Ford Key On Engine Running requires user to complete various actions during the test, (Click here for information on the procedure) .
6 Start Engine.
7 You will need to complete the actions described at the times described in the procedure page accessed from the link above.
8 The fault codes will be shown on the LED tester or Voltmeter connected.
9 Read codes as described in the Code Format Description below.
10 Press the continue button to enter the code numbers and get the code description.

Code Format Description
The fault code will either be 2 digit (up to 99) or 3 digit (up to 999).
Each series of flashes represents a digit.
A 2 second pause separates each digit.
A 4 second pause separates each code.
Each fault code is repeated 2 times before next code is displayed.
Ignore any quick flashes that may occur before the Hard Codes.
Code Format Diagram shows code No. 132.
