Auto Repair Manual - How to read codes (No Special Tools Needed) 1 Drive vehicle until it reaches operating temperature. 2 Stop the vehicle, place it in park or neutral and turn ignition OFF. 3 Connect an LED tester or Voltmeter, (Click here for details) , to to battery positive (shown as B) and connector terminal 2 (shown as A). 5 Switch ignition on, operate the switched lead for 3 seconds. NOTE -The ECM can only display one code at a time, to read the next code operate switch for 3 seconds when the CodeReader prompts. Code Format Diagram  Code Format Description • The two digits are indicated by two series of flashes. • The first long flashes indicates the multiples of ten, the second series of flashes in quick succession indicates the single units. • The code number "12" is indicated by a long flash, a 1.5-second pause and two flashes in quick succession.
