Auto Repair Manual - How to read codes (No Special Tools Needed)

NOTE:

• To retrieve the codes using the ignition key method, first rev the car to 2500 rpm (while in Neutral or Park), then slowly reduce revs down to idle.

• If equipped with automatic transmission, cycle through each position (Drive, Park, etc).

• If equipped with air conditioning also cycle that ON and OFF.

1 Turn engine OFF.

2 To retrieve the trouble codes, turn the ignition ON-OFF, ON-OFF, and finally ON again, within 5 seconds.

3 The stored codes will be displayed in the odometer display area.

4 Press the continue button to enter the code numbers and get the code description(s).

NOTE -If this method does not work, and your vehicle has trip reset and trip/odometer button, press both of these buttons in. While pressing them, turn the ignition to ON and release buttons after 5 seconds. Stored codes should then be displayed in the odometer display area.

To move to the next screen click on the Continue button
