Auto Repair Manual - How to read codes (No Special Tools Needed)

1 Drive vehicle until it reaches operating temperature.

2 Stop the vehicle, place it in park or neutral and turn ignition OFF.

3 The 4 pin multiplug is located under the dash on the passengers side.

4 Connect an LED tester or Voltmeter to terminals 'A' & 'B'. (Click here for details) 

5 Connect a switch as shown on the diagram. (Click here for details) 

6 Turn ignition on.

7 Close switch for 2.5 to 5 seconds.

NOTE -The fault codes can only be accessed one at a time. For next fault code depress switched lead for 2.5 to 5 seconds at the CodeReader prompt.

8 Read codes as described in the Code Format Description below.

9 Press the continue button to enter the code numbers and get the code description(s).

Code Format Description

• Four series of flashes are used to indicate the four digit codes.

• The first digit is indicated by the first series of flashes, likewise for the second digit, until all four digits have been flashed out.

• A one to two second flash makes up each series with flashes being separated by short pauses. One second flashes make up the numbers, with zero being indicated by a two second flash.

• Each series of flashes is separated by a 2.5-second gap.

• A 2-second flash, a short pause, one 1-second flash, a short pause, three 1-second flashes, a short pause and two 1-second flashes indicates the code number "0132". Codes will be repeated after 2.5 second gap.
